There’s something about being outside while you’re growing a baby.
The air feels different. Slower. Fuller. Almost sacred.
As a mother myself, I know how tender this season is. Your body is changing. Your heart is expanding. And even when you feel strong, there are moments you feel fragile too.
That’s why I’m intentional about the locations I suggest for maternity photos across East Tennessee, the Cumberland Plateau, and North Georgia. I want them to feel beautiful — not exhausting.
Here are a few of my favorite types of locations:

Cades Cove
There’s a quiet openness in Cades Cove — wide fields, soft mountain ridges, golden light that wraps around you gently.
It’s perfect if you want:
• Dreamy mountain maternity photos
• Soft sunset light
• Space to move without hiking
And I always choose spots that require minimal walking, because maternity sessions should feel grounding — not like a trek.
Secluded Creeks Near Knoxville
There’s something incredibly intimate about water. The sound. The stillness. The way it reflects light.
Secluded creeks in and around Knoxville create:
• Barefoot, earthy maternity images
• Movement in water
• A peaceful, tucked-away feeling
And yes — I always make sure access is manageable. No steep climbs. No long hikes. Just quiet beauty.

Mountain Overlooks on the Cumberland Plateau
If you’re dreaming of a mountaintop maternity session, we can absolutely do that — without making you hike miles pregnant.
I’ve scouted overlooks that:
• Have minimal walking
• Offer sweeping views
• Feel expansive but intimate
Because this season deserves to feel empowering.
Not overwhelming.

And If Being Outside Doesn’t Feel Like You…
As beautiful as mountaintop overlooks and quiet creeks can be, they aren’t the only way to document this season.
Sometimes, the most meaningful place is the one you’re already in.
Your home.
The kitchen where you lean against the counter at the end of the day.
The nursery you’ve slowly been preparing.
The couch where you rest your hands on your belly without even thinking about it.
In-home maternity sessions feel different.
They’re quieter. More intimate. Less about scenery — more about presence.
And if walking trails or navigating uneven ground while pregnant doesn’t sound appealing (I understand that deeply), staying home can feel grounding instead of draining.
There is something powerful about documenting the space where your baby will be brought into.
Where you’ll pace the floors in the early days.
Where life will change.
If that feels more aligned with your personality and this season, you can read more about what an in-home maternity session looks like here:
